Amazing use for chains

So I am currently building a hallway that is only 2 blocks wide, and I want to use hanging lanterns for lights, but they would be off center because of the 2 blocks wide hallway. So, I thought, it would be very cool if I could place two chains on the ceiling next to one another, have them connect, and hang a lantern from them. Centered in the two block wide hallway. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve ran into a similar situation, even with regular blocks and not just chains. This could possibly turn into an idea to center any single block between two blocks. It would add incredible design potential. Maybe some kind of mounting block that will span between a 2x1 or 2x2 space? That can then hold and center a single block. An example would be, I have a 4x4 room, and I want a crafting table perfectly centered in the room. I could place said “mount” on the center 2x2 portion of the room. Then, when I place my crafting table on it, the mount disappears, and my crafting table is placed perfectly center of the room. I would love this and I’m sure so many others would
