How about the option for the Happy Ghast to enter autopilot mode when being ridden?
To activate this mode, the lead rider of the Happy Ghast could hold a Lodestone Compass. While the lead rider is holding the Lodestone Compass the Happy Ghast would:
- rise to a default elevation such as y = 250 (this might potentially be adjustable in game settings if you're using the Happy Ghast for ocean crossings etc),
- fly directly to the Lodestone that the Lodestone Compass is anchored to
- descend to a safe block distance (out of arrow range) above the Lodestone
There is a lot of feedback about Happy Ghast speed being slow, but also arguments that speeding it up would make other forms of transport redundant. With autopilot mode, you could at least keep the Happy Ghast at its current speed while increasing its utility for moving between specific sites in the world.
It would take the grind out of these journeys and also create another use for the (in my opinion - slightly underutilised) Lodestone system.
I'd make a coffee or put some washing on while these autopilot journeys are completed. (Maybe keeping the volume up to listen out for lightning or Phantoms).
I like the Happy Ghast for co-op with my kids because it takes the chaos out of a move between bases (someone usually gets lost (on a boat) or goes down a ravine (on a horse)). This won't be applicable to all users, but I also like the Happy Ghast speed, because I play using hardware that can struggle with chunk loading). Thanks.
