1. Trap Shelves
These behave like trapped chests: when a player interacts with the shelf (swapping items), it emits a redstone signal. They allow full hotbar swaps (up to 9 items using three connected trap shelves), but unlike regular shelves, they don't require redstone power to function.
Perfect for redstone traps, PvP challenges, or custom adventure maps.
2. Stone Shelves (Trap variant)
Crafted using any kind of stone (stone, deepslate, tuff, granite, andesite, diorite, blackstone, even nether bricks), these are visually distinct and act as trap shelves.
-
Once the player interacts with a stone shelf, the selected items are swapped into the hotbar and locked.
-
To recover those items, the shelf must be broken, making it a risk-reward block.
-
Their stone texture serves as a clear visual cue that the shelf is dangerous or unusual, allowing fair design.
