As an ardent fan of creating large villager networks in Minecraft, I've always thought it would be useful to grant the player more of an ability to suggest pathfinding for certain NPCs. Of course, NPCs such as Villagers, Iron Golems, and Copper Golems operate within limited radii. Consequently, larger networks of NPCs leave more opportunities to lose and disorient NPCs in undesirable places.
The solution? A Pathfinding Block made with Copper and Redstone. Each Pathfinding Block functions like the intersection or end of a road, all connected in linear lines by Redstone. Presumably, they would be placed directly under roads. The Pathfinding Block does not directly dictate the movement of the NPC. Rather, it guides the NPC to their destination. So, a Copper Golem will know where to travel for chests, and a Villager to their job site, allowing them to be willing to travel longer distances with the certainty of their function being fulfilled.
Not only does this expand the radius for the NPC in question, but it allows roads and pathways built by players to serve a functional purpose. The potential with a feature such as this would be immense and incredibly useful.
