Do you hate it when other players (or you yourself accidentally) open/close decorative trapdoors, doors, etc.., that should not be interacted with? Would you like to keep the block in just one particular state because it serves only a decorative purpose? Or do you want it to be inert when powered by redstone signal?
Not long ago, resin item was added to Minecraft, and since resin in real life is a main ingredient in glues, i think it would be neat to be able to use it on doors, trapdoors and such to "glue" them stuck in their current state.
The mechanics can work exactly as they do with using wax on copper blocks, and perhaps to not have to introduce "glued" variants of all applicable blocks as unique items, the "glued" state can disappear when the block is broken? And if mojang would want to be fancy and make the "glued" state visually distinct, the resin could be lightly visible on (for example) the hinges of the doors, indicating that the block is "stuck" in it's current state.
