They need to be able to put bows, weapons, armor and other non stacking items into chests. It was very frustrating having to deal with that.

Can the copper chest be like the chest from the iron chest mod but make it so you can make a double copper chest as big four double chest in a copper double chest

Let them place items on nearby copper plates if chest are unavailable or when unable to pathfind to one. Instead of having them sit idle, if both chest and copper plate are unavailable allow them to place it back in the copper chest behind the rest of the chest inventory to have a chance to try again later

It would be a cool feature as well if dispensers could place blocks/items on copper golems' heads, to give players a new way to decorate without using commands.

I haven't actually tested it myself but based on some videos, the way I would see it work is: The golem would pick up 16 items (or less) from the copper chest at random (not only the first) and pick a target chest at random within a specific area. If there is no match in the first chest, it would keep checking other chests close by avoiding the ones (10) already checked. If it finds where to put the items, it would remember that last item and last chest. When it goes back to the copper chest, It tries to pick the same items as the last and then it would go straight back to the last chest and repeat that until all those items are moved. Then, if it's a new item or if the last chest does not match anymore, it would simply start at random again. If no matching chest is ever found, it could put the items back into the copper chest and start the random process again.

I loooove the idea! I'm the guy who made the first feedback post for copper golems, back in 2017, too. I think this is the perfect way to implement the little guys
    ... but in testing, they're a bit too dumb. I think a few issues with their "search for chest to place item" behaviour/AI task is holding them back significantly;

    • They keep targetting chests that they can't actually pathfind to.
    • They sometimes target chests that they can't even see, or at least shouldn't be able to see.
    • I've seen them look through the same double chests twice with the same item, even though that shouldn't happen, no? They shouldn't be checking the same place twice right away.
    • I've seen them give up on placing an item even though they were two blocks away from the appropriate chest, and they just never tried looking in it.

Also, they're just slowww. But maybe if their AI gets improved and they start working reliably, their speed might not be much of an issue, since we'd be able to just add more golems and expect our system not to break.

Personally, I'd like to have some of the Copper Golem's original concept with the copper button to be implemented. I like the idea of randomized redstone in the game. That way players could choose whether they want to use the mob for redstone or inventory sorting.

There are many posts with alot of upvotes for this, so I am merely reiterating the general consensus in the hope that saying it again will improve the odds of implementation,

Copper Golems need to have memory!

They need to be able to remember the contents of chests and sort items to those chests quickly. As is, their very limited AI of checking every chest every time renders them almost unusable in any large storage room. On top of that, they need to be able to reach chests stacked 4 high, which is the most common arrangement in player storage rooms. Both these changes are essential if a copper golem is to be compatible with most player storage rooms.

Ok, if nobody else wants to say it, why not (since they already become statues) make it so players can give the copper golems little gnome hats since they are already the Minecraft equivalent to garden gnomes?

Love the copper golems and the new features! It might be nice if in addition to these the copper button also got added for more decoration purposes and perhaps the golem would still press them randomly as a side feature?

Cute as buttons, but they're still not smart enough to handle large open storage systems, and they can't reach high enough to function in storage set up for the player's convinence.

Small thing, but if the golem has no pathfinding options, it shouldn't search for a chest in its search radius, but in adjacent blocks only. Like if it's being surrounded by chests.

The Copper Golem is very good, but I was playing with the experimental version and I noticed a small detail that could be changed, when he takes an item from a copper chest and looks for a chest with the same item but doesn't find it, he gets stuck with the item and can't take it from his hand, that was very stressful, it would be really cool if we could take the item from the Copper Golem's hand or when he doesn't find the item, return it to the copper chest or find another empty chest for him to put the item there.

It should get a button that can turn it off and on that is made and connected to a copper golem by putting any button on the copper block that the golem is spawned from

Please add a Volume Slider that lets us make the copper golem quieter! He is always banging around the base, opening chests loudly, and the current "Friendly Mobs" slider does not work on him - the chest opening noises specifically.

On release the logic for copper golems really wasn't improved at all. They need at least a basic memory of item locations in the chests they sort for them to be useful, and they need to have a consistent path finding method every time. They are incapable of quickly sorting the same object to the same chest twice in a row unless placed right next to the chest they have to sort it into. If they are allowed to move around AT ALL they become wildly inconsistent and inefficient, which makes them basically useless compared to hopper sorters (which I do hate building and wish this lil guy could be a cute, low-tech replacement for!)

PLEASE Mojang, let them remember where they place an item when they place it correctly in a chest, so at least for basic sorters they can immediately know where they need to go! If you do, then all the copper golem has to do is go to that chest and check to see that the correct items are still inside and that is has space, and then it can place it, or if it doesn't, then it will delete that entry in it's memory and go back to the start of it's loop. Easy, and SO useful!

Could you make it so right clicking on a golem with an item lets you take the item from that golem? They kinda just gremlin items right now if they can't find a chest to put them in.

Also, crouch right clicking should convert them to a statue immediately at what ever oxidization level they were at, so you can manually move them around. I built a sorting room incorrectly and waiting for them to turn into statues to move them to the right locations was a nightmare

Copper golems are a bit rough around the edges right now. I only use them as decoration. I don't let them near my Great Warehouse because it's too big for them, and I don't want to implement auto-sorting because I don't need it yet. I'd like the developers to make them REALLY useful, or at least more painful than they are now.

They are very cute, but I feel like the best fix for them would be to make it so once they’ve gone through all the chests in the area looking for a spot for the item they put it back in the copper chest and grab a new one. In my mind this would allow you to identify the problem items and then trouble shoot the problem. Copper golems are of course meant to be an early game alternative redstone sorting systems but at the moment they are largely useless and difficult to work with, especially if you want to incorporate more movement into your base and not trap them in a box.

Please make it so that if they don't find the exact item they're holding in a chest, they will add it to a chest of similar items (like sorting the creative inventory) I have to keep on taking items from it.
