Minecraft is a huge and diverse game with millions of players across creative, survival, and PvP modes. Since the combat changes in 1.9+, many PvP players prefer the fast, skill-based 1.8 combat and feel left out.
This split limits Minecraft’s potential as a competitive esport and content platform.
I strongly suggest Mojang either add an in-game combat toggle (Classic 1.8 vs Modern 1.9+) or create a dedicated PvP edition (e.g., “Minecraft 1.21 PvP”) that keeps classic combat but includes new features.
This unites the community without compromise, preserves Minecraft’s huge esports potential, empowers content creators with diverse gameplay, and lets servers cater to different player preferences.
Casual and single-player players keep the modern system unaffected.
By embracing both combat styles, Minecraft becomes the richest, most versatile game — a true competitive and creative powerhouse.
This is a strategic step to grow the audience, community, and esports scene while respecting all players’ preferences.
I urge Mojang to seriously consider this.
