I’d love to see datapacks support custom blocks and items through reusable templates. Imagine having a folder like items/ where you create a base JSON template for an item—defining its name, attributes, functions, model, and more—which can then be easily modified and reused to create many similar items. This would streamline content creation and help reduce lag by avoiding redundant data.
Similarly, blocks could be defined in a blocks/ folder with templates specifying hitbox, mining time, interactions, base models, and corresponding item drops.
On top of that, resource packs could be enhanced to allow adding new custom particles.
This approach would make adding custom content more efficient, organized, and performant for both creators and players.
