As many know, Copper Golems original purpose was not what it is today. In the initial trailer, Copper Golems main use was to press copper buttons randomly. And another difference that could be seen in this initial trailer is the design itself: Before the Copper Golem lightless eyes, but now, the Copper Golem has lit up eyes. These two differences gave me an idea for a feature that could be added to the Copper Golem.
Introducing Operator Mode
If a player shift right-clicks the Copper Golem, the Golem's eyes will shut off and will no longer interact with Copper Chests. Instead, it will now interact with Copper Buttons, a new block that would come with this addition. And the more oxidized the Golem, the more delayed it will be:
- No oxidation: Every 1-5 seconds (20 - 100 ticks)
- Exposed: Every 4-8 Seconds (80 - 160 ticks)
- Weathered: Every 7-11 Seconds (140 - 220 ticks)
- Oxidized: Every 10-14 Seconds (200 - 280 ticks)
Delays would be adjusted to what dev's see fit.
Along with the delay that comes with the Golem's Oxidation, the buttons would also add on to the delay based on how much they are oxidized. Each level of oxidation except the base level adds 1 seconds (20 ticks) of delay, meaning you can increase the delay up to 3 seconds more. This new feature would be known technically as golem_button_preference.
The current "mode" as I like to call them, that of course being the item sorting mode. Would be renamed to: Sorter Mode.
