For more than a decade, I have advocated for Minecraft as a creative, thoughtful, sustainability-oriented, and non-violent game in an ocean of First-Person Shooter (FPS) and Role Playing Games (RPGs) with war, conquest, and battlefield settings.

I have been playing the same Minecraft instance now for 12 years, which is 25 gigabytes huge given how much exploration, terraforming, and building that I’ve put into the game.

Unfortunately, at the end of 2025, Microsoft pivoted to militarize Minecraft, particularly with the Mounts of Mayhem campaign, with challenger tournaments that promote weaponization and killing that celebrates participants as our ‘bravest and most adventurous heroes’.

I am profoundly disappointed in Microsoft for aligning Minecraft with the barbarity of killing others in the name of entertainment, undermining its position as an educational platform popular in classrooms for math, science, and STEM learning.

Anyway, I'm with you. I play for the creativity and exploration factors, not for the unnecessary violence.
