i think a good next update for minecraft would be something that makes the overworld feel bigger and rougher, but still fits with how the game plays. i call it the foundry and frost update. it adds a new biome called frosted cliffs—these huge sharp mountains with snowdrifts, frozen waterfalls, and a new block called frostrock that’s like a cold gray-blue version of stone. there’s also blue moss that grows under ledges and frozen caves deep below. it’s a cold, wild part of the world that makes surviving feel a bit different.
there’d be new mobs too. the scruffalo is a big wooly creature that roams the cliffs. it’s peaceful unless you hit it, and if you take it down you can craft hide armor from its thick hide, which is about as strong as iron but slows your fall a little. ice gnarls are little blue goblins that steal dropped items and throw snowballs that slow you down. cave cranes are tall birds that grab fish and small mobs with their beaks. they make nests on cliffs and you can steal their eggs if you want the risk.
there’d be some new building blocks too. frostrock has a cracked, rough look that fits mountain builds. snowgrip slabs look like snow but slow movement a little. the copper brazier is a clean firelight block with no smoke. the forge hammer is a new tool that lets you boost damaged tools. cliff hooks help with climbing steep areas. and the gnarl charm gives short buffs when hit.
