Pets loading chunks

Am I the only one who dies far from fame and my dog stays at my "grave"? It would be nice if our pets (dogs, cats, happy ghasts, parrots) would load chunks. And if someone doesn't want their game to be slower, can they add it in the /gamerule command?

    Following pets should load chunks. Sitting pets should not.
