A new grid-like type of copper block whose placement works exactly like the scaffolding will allow you to place them really fast, both vertically and horizontally. Once you have these copper-like scaffolds laid out, you could rightclick on them with a certain block in your hand, which will make it so that block will get placed at the end of your scaffolding structure.
This new way of building would justify copper's extremely common generation rate too.
When building big structures in survival, placing blocks normally gets in the way of fun and makes getting results extremely slow and tedious, but I don't think this will make the game easier or disrupt the current pacing or flow you devs intend, cause you still have to plan your structures and choose your blocks, so I think it'll make big builds more affordable and therefore encourage players to build more, thus avoiding players to drop their builds and ultimately abandon their worlds. This would allow us to make more and bigger structures in survival without using external tools.
