Minecraft features an enormous variety of plant types, most of which currently serve only decorative purposes. However, players often encounter minor problems and inconveniences during exploration—issues too small to justify the creation of a dedicated mob to solve them.
The idea is to introduce new types of plants designed to make the player’s journey easier while encouraging exploration of biomes and structures that are often overlooked. Each plant type would be built around a clearly defined mechanic, serving a specific purpose—similar to how glow lichen helps illuminate caves. These plants could assist with underground food sourcing, slowing the loss of breath underwater, providing light, surviving in the Nether, or granting unique effects. Existing plants not currently used in potion brewing could also be integrated into this system.
This update would finally give the Sniffer—one of the most difficult mobs to obtain—a truly valuable role. By associating it with exclusive flowers that unlock meaningful and unique gameplay mechanics, the Sniffer can become essential to progression rather than just a novelty
