Why Add Stinging?
Not all plants are safe, and while we have harmful cacti and spiky berry bushes, I think poison oak and stinging nettles would be dangerous and fun additions. They would make Minecraft's forests more dangerous and exciting, and make Players think before they walk or mine. They would also make Old Growth forests more unique.
What is Stinging?
Stinging is a new Status Effect that causes damage whenever a player uses an item, similar to how touching things after a brush with stinging nettle will really hurt! Stinging cannot be dispelled with Milk, but cannot be applied via a potion. Use a Gooey Bottle, made from right-clicking a Magma Cube, Slime, or Frog with a bottle to dispel it, or stand in water for it to more quickly dissipate. Players can make Stinging Arrows that briefly apply Stinging from Honeycomb.
Stinging Oak
A Stinging Oak is a rare type of Oak Tree that will cause Stinging upon hitting it or touching its leaves. Stinging Oaks are found in Old Growth Forests and Swamps. When mined, sharp-looking Stinging Oak leaves will drop. Trees near which huts are more likely to be Stinging. Think before you mine! Maybe Stinging Oaks could drop Snow-White inspired greenish Poison Apples in reference to the real-world inspiration of poison oaks?
Stinging Nettle
Stinging Nettle is a plant found in Old Growth Taiga that will cause Stinging to players that walk through it. Hitting it will also cause Stinging.
