I would like to see Duckweed be added to Minecraft as a decoration plant block.
Duckweed, Andmat, Lemna, tiny free-floating aquatic plants. reproduce rapidly and like to be on the surface of still-water.
Mechanically it could work like pink petals in terms of being able to place 1-4 on a single block and using bonemeal to propagate.
They could function like lilypads in that they can only be placed on a source block of water and break when run through with a boat (duckweed spreads in real life by catching a ride on things). (or not break to let players ride around in pretty waters without worry)
While the player is swimming, theyd able to go freely through them and not break the Duckweed, like seaweed and seagrass.
Besides further water decoration im not sure if has further use mechanically. I think its unique enough in its own right of being an aquatic version of pink petals and wildflowers. in real life many creatures use it as a camouflage to both hide from predators and to hunt prey (frogs, crocs, crabs) and many other animals like to snack on them (water fowls, aquatic mammals, slugs, fish), humans are even able to consume them safely. Duckweed is also popular in freshwater fishkeeping hobbies as both a food source and decor. It could be a way to introduce bird Ducks or a way to breed fish if thatd ever a thing added. Thanks for taking the time to read this, i hope the idea came across clear! of course any parts of the idea can change, im not the people working on it lol.
