If you have a large redstone build that can only be integrated into an environmental space, the clicking of dispensers/droppers and loud pistons break the immersion.
There was backlash when the piston sound was changed to a quieter new audio at one point, so instead of being totally silent when wax is applied (a silent redstone trap seems too unfair) altered audios of redstone components play that are quieter, and the range at which you hear them is shorter.
There was a topic seen referring to pistons, but this should be applied to the majority of redstone components, and up to the developers to use honeycomb, an existing block/item, or a new block/item.
