UI for mobile ports of Minecraft have always felt obsolete to me. Always tricky to control and hard to PvP with, and outside of being able to place blocks without looking at them, always felt obsolete in comparison to using controller or keyboard/mouse. I say fix it by simply giving it FPS-like controls. Look at PUBG Mobile, which has a circular movement pad for easy maneuvering and a series of minor buttons on the right side of the screen, the most important being attack, jump, and interact. Mobile versions could adopt this, and while holding a weapon, an attack button appears, and the cursor appears on the screen. It can be tapped, or held for aiming bows and autoswinging melee weapons (for parity with the combat test update, autoswinging will grant less damage per second than tapping quickly). When using crossbows, after charging arrows will be released after the player taps and release the attack button, rather than just tapping it like a sword or holding it like a bow. When using tools or blocks, or nothing at all, this UI disappears, and instead defaults to the equivalent of "Split Controls" turned off. Best part about a rework like this is that it leaves room for optional control customization, giving players more control over gameplay and closing the gap between console and mobile combat.
