In my opinion, mob votes and biome votes have been the source of several of the biggest conflicts in the Minecraft community.
This is because the community is often forced to pick between several great options.
This ends up dividing the community into several groups, one for each option and one group of people who are fine with any outcome.
Each group has different, conflicting goals. This naturally ends in conflict.
Those who are most passionate about the game, end up being pitted against each other, competing for the winning vote by causing drama and rallying people. It's basically politics, and politics suck.
I get that you want to draw people to your Minecraft Live events, but I feel these public votes are counterproductive to your goals.
Perhaps, instead you could host an event where people play a variety of Minecraft minigames, competing as teams. Each team would represent its own vote, e.g. Team Glowsquid/Team Iceologer/Team Moobloom.
This way, passion and competition is directed at winning the game, rather than YouTube/Twitter politics.
