The Warden is easily my favorite Caves & Cliffs addition! A bit of horror is what makes games like Minecraft, FNAF, Among Us, Undertale so successful, spawning creepypastas like Herobrine. My first Minecraft night is an unforgettable experience.
I like that the Warden's a natural disaster meant to be avoided, but I think it should just be unkillable. If it's killable, and if it doesn't respawn, it immediately rewards players for killing it, even if it drops nothing. You can get rid of the Warden by sealing it up with blocks, like a forbidden monster sealed in the depths. You can still hit the Warden, and it'll eventually go down, but will revive itself eventually. This will make it a unique mob with unique mechanics, not just another random tough mob that veteran players kill easily.
To prevent spawnkills, the Warden shouldn't immediately aggro on nearby players who have just respawned. It makes sense as the Warden is blind.
Alternatively, if you want the Warden to be killable, allow it to respawn, with one Warden per Deep Dark biome. It's always a shame if cool challenging mobs can go extinct in worlds, like Elder Guardians or Brutes.
