The Common Skink is a passive ground-based mob that moves quickly across the ground and is about 1 block tall. with about 4 hp and a quick movement speed, they are rather unique critters.
Introduction
they are friendly critters that like to hang around in arid or hot biomes such as deserts and mesa biomes and occasionally in plains biomes. unlike other mobs, they hang around blocks that are classed as "Heat" blocks that aren't dangerous, like magma blocks or lava as an example of dangerous blocks.
"Heat Blocks" include torches, smokers, blast furnaces and campfires... as some examples.
(To a degree, it helps fill up the barren desert and mesa biomes with one of their own mobs specifically. they also can spawn in a plains biome but with a reduced spawn chance.)
How they work
they have about 4 HP however... they have two hitboxes, one for its front and main body and one at the rear, if the rear hitbox is hit specifically, its tail drops off as an edible item and it takes no damage however, knockback is still applied. it also gives it a quick speed boost for a few seconds to quickly dash away..
The A.I systems
the A.I is different from other passive mobs with skinks. they wander around aimlessly until any hostile mob, foxes, chickens, goats of even the player gets close to it, then... it will stare at you and poke its tongue out at you (to either scare you away or taunt you... however you interoperate it) and if you get too much closer while its staring at you, it will quickly run away.
