Attributes are amazing for mapmakers, commanders(what I call Command Block Engineers), and generally having fun. If you want to mod the game but don't have a powerful enough computer to run mods, you should be able to do almost all if it with attributes by modifying a player's statistic. For Example:
fall_speed modifies the speed at which a player falls(slowfall, but can go in both directions and be a percentage)
jump_height (jump_boost, but is more manageable.)
swimming_speed(dolphin's grace, but better)
horse_speed(I feel like this was overlooked with horse_jumpheight)
heat_damage(allows for less/more fire/lava/lightning damage)
water_damage(If set to negative numbers, instantly starts drowning the player on contact with water.)
fall_damage(increases/decreases falling damage)
regeneration_speed(increases/decreases regeneration speed)
melee_damage/resistance
projectile_damage/resistance
boat_speed
explosion_damage/resistance
maxHeight, and finally:
potion_level(would increase the level of a potion players brew, default being 1.0, and 2.0 doubling, 3.0 tripling, and then 0.0 or negatives turns it into the reverse of that effect.
Things like this would make it possible to edit a player in a way that would allow someone to have mods without having mods. I love modmakers, don't get me wrong, but some people just have really crappy computers and commands are a less resource intensive way to modify the game. Attributes can modify everything about a player, or at least most of it.
