The Netherite Fishing Rod is an upgraded fishing rod that can catch items and creatures in water and lava alike! It's made by combining a Fishing Rod with a Netherite Ingot at a Smithing Table. Why specifically Netherite? Because making this fishing rod with a Netherite Ingot gives it the status of an endgame item and lets the old fishing rod remain desirable in the early game. Plus, Netherite naturally has a lava-resistant effect, so a Netherite Fishing Rod operating in lava makes sense.
The Nether is the only dimension where lava-resistant mobs exist, so catching creatures in lava is exclusive to the Nether, so lava fishing won't work in the Overworld. (Netherite Fishing Rods work the same as regular fishing rods in the water.)

What exactly are NetherFishes? These scorching swimmers just came out of the lava, so they're burning hot! Eat them in this state, you'll regret it! Cool them off by dropping them in powdered snow or water. After you've cooled the fish off, you can safely eat it. NetherFish grants you 3 hunger bars and 5 seconds of fire resistance per fish.
