Since 1.14, villagers had a revamp but you can't have the old villager textures without using a texture pack which removes the new textures. I thought it would be cool if Mojang added a villager head which would give you the ability to spawn a custom NPC. This head would come with a new UI which would have tabs such as: costume, quests, rewards, movement, strength, inventory, dialogue etc.
Villager skins could be chosen from either pre 1.14 skins, post 1.14 skins or the Minecraft marketplace. This would give skin packs more than 1 use and would give players a reason to buy multiple skin packs.
You could create your own quests from a variety of options that the game would provide (e.g. Collecting, fighting a number of mobs etc.)
This could also come with an ability for more jobs. You could switch your custom villagers jobs to either: trader, quest giver, follower, mail, beacon and guard.
I would love to see this come to Minecraft because it will introduce an easy built-in way to have quests for map makers and can add in mailboxes for builders and give more uses to skin packs.
