I am a birdwatcher too! I think we should add in ducks as well, such as Mallards. The Mallards can be tamed with bread. :) There can be females and males which have the different colorings like in real life.

I really like this idea as it offers an ambient mob of sorts. Everyone wants mobs that have some use, bees give honey, parrots dance, cats ward off creepers, but just having some ambient mobs that fly high overhead that just serve as scenery and audio would be really nice. Although a lot of planning will have to go into making the birds. The bat was added as an ambient mob and people hate it and how much it gets in the way of building. So when people are building in the biome the birds spawn in, it'd be best to find a way to make sure they avoid the player/don't have spawn conditions that let them spawn in whatever structure the player is building. Plus then we could get a hawk pet, as some hawks and eagles and such are endangered, and it could bring the player chicken or small scraps of meat.

Maybe you could tame them with seeds? You could get an advancement called “birdwatcher” for looking at a bird with a spyglass.

Maybe they could work like tropical fish in how they look and are named, and could be about the size of a bat

If we were to have birds kind of update in Minecraft there should be at least 3 different spawn eggs. The first spawn egg would just be called birds (I know, very imaginative), like cats they would have different sets of skins. For example, species like blue jays, robins, and cardinals. Each bird would have it’s own designated bird chirp because that makes sense. Did you guys know birds sleep amazing i know. Here’s another bird that I think might go well with these, an owl. Similar to the cat, the owl would have many skins. Let’s get something else it would be similar too, the fox. Like the fox it would be nocturnal and sleep through the day and feast in the night, probably on well, foxes :). They should also changed there coat to white in cold biomes like foxes because that sounds sick. Ducks are another thing that could be added to the game because their adorable and you can’t tell me any different (and I’m not talking about any reskinned chicken). Could be cool to have the duck swim Peacefully on top of the water and fly. Could be cool Mojang. Along with these birds should be nests, a place to lay eggs. my idea is that it can’t be made and only collected. If birds are bred to far from a nest they would look for sticks on the ground and make a nest of there own. Once a nest is nearby they would lay 3-2 eggs and fly off. Maybe if your near when the eggs hatch the birds won’t fly away from you. One problem I can’t figure out is crossbreeding. I’m just a guy with ideas lol.

What you could do is add magpies that carry loot that can be taken by either: Giving the magpie seeds, or by killing it, and to add to that, magpies could pick up dropped stuff on the ground flying around with it, they could live in taigas deserts and plains

A stork would go well with the wild update. They would be a passive mob, so they would fly away if attacked and eat fish and frogs. They would nest on tree branches (would be cool to have better branches) or on structures in the swamp such as a house or witch hut. Or maybe flamingoes to go with the oasis when they update the desert. Would be cool when you get to an oasis and see a flamingo, especially if oases are rare.

Maybe there could be tamable owls in the night and maybe they could help you find birds or something?

I do quite like this idea. I think more birds would be a lovely addition in game. Perhaps a new cage item if you wish to keep them as pets?

I would want them to make them stop making sound at night like imagine during the day in the forest you hear all these birds singing around you, but as night falls it stops and then birds like owls start hooting

I agree that robins are an essential common bird type to add, as well as chickadees and bluebirds

If You mention birds, you should include Owls that life in the tundra, snowy tundra and the dark oak forest. So we could possibly have 3 types of owls. And owls could be used as a tamable species, that if tamed would give the player night vision and makes a sound when a phantom is spawned, since phantoms would like to hunt owls, as they are both active at night. Owls would hunt rabbits for their own food supply, but since they are hunting more than they need, if there are more rabbits, this could be used as a form of rabbit farm. This would be useful as the bundles are introduced with a crafting recipe that needs rabbit hide.

These are just ideas, maybe you could use them to edit the original

Minecraft has been focused on single biomes, but your bird idea could brighten up a bunch of biomes at once. This idea makes me smile. Bring some other areas to life with birds!

Add woodpeckers, they are really cool birds. Also maybe the cat bird. If a creeper heard one then maybe it could get scared? Also tropical birds are really colorful and I would love those
