Melly Dow, I think he/she was talking about Iron blobs, not veins. Iron golem farms are more mid-game rather than early game. Any Minecraft player go mining first in order to advance enough to make an Iron farm. So having that early game mining be a little harder will make early progression harder, then by the time you’ve progressed enough to potentially make an Iron farm, you likely won’t need one because all of the cave exploration you’ve done in the early-mid-game led you to an Iron vein.

Ore veins can have more than 20,000 ore blocks, which you can more than double with Fortune III! That's not even counting the raw ore blocks you find! How is that not enough for any technical player or builder? Even the smallest ones probably have a couple hundred of minerals at least, and those ones are very occasional/rare. They're not impossible to find either, not at all. If you know what you're doing and are a dedicated cave explorer (which a lot of people will be after we get the new generation and biomes), you can find them within a few hours, and it's incredibly rewarding and satisfying when you do so, from what I heard. They're not too hard to find at all, just hard enough so that when you find them and start mining, it feels like they were well earned due to the strategy put into it. Of course, some people would still favor making Iron farms, and that's why they are there in the first place, so that every playstyle has an option. However, I heard of very few people who would make Iron farms within an hour, and even then they wouldn't be the most efficient ones at all. Usually most people go mining during the early game first until they could upgrade sufficiently to make an Iron farm that they could really rely on, since mining is the most reliable and easy way of getting resources early game (besides diamonds, probably).

For the record, the amount of Iron you find in 2 Ore Veins on average when using Fortune III should be enough to fill your entire inventory with Shulker boxes that are full of Iron ingots. You can make more than 30 Mega-Beacons/6-Beacon pyramids with that. Of course Ore Veins vary a lot, but variation is great, and on average they are relatively huge. A couple of them should provide huge amounts like so. By the time you kill the Wither once in a casual game, you would have almost certainly found at least two if you're into exploration and caving (which will become infinitely more fun). These are ridiculous amounts of Iron, so please don't try to convince me that it won't be enough to keep you set for the entirety of the game, especially since you would keep finding more throughout the game if you keep caving. Look at the numbers yourself.
