Panels of the two copper block textures, with all the stages of oxidization. These would behave similarly to glass panels, resting in the center of a block, or forming a small post if not connected to anything.
This will allow some interesting depth to copper builds, and the "post" function, like glass before it, can be used to creative effect. For instance: copper pipes, thin copper stalagmites/tites or speleothems. The copper looks good with dripstone and pointed dripstone. The level of detail and depth it would afford builders would be greatly appreciated.
This could even include iron and gold paneling. Such a feature would stretch resources for large builds, making mining more agreeable for builders time wise, as you would get 4 panels from one block to build with. It would be indispensable for industrial and modern builds.
I think this would fit right into the Minecraft aesthetic, and make perfect sense to the players. It would also make a reasonable compromise for players who want copper or metal walls.
