Suggestion to versions for the 1.17 Cliffs & Caves Update division

A few moments ago I knew that they are going to leave the second part of the Cliffs & Caves Update as 1.18 but I do not see it as ideal since Mojang already has us used to each increment of the minor version being with a different theme, so I suggest that they leave each part as a release candidate (RC) with a number indicating that it is the first and second part and that later they release the final version 1.17 so that they leave us the illusion that 1.18 is about another topic and something new.

So it would look like this:
For summer: 1.17-RC1
For Christmas: 1.17-RC2
For the final version: 1.17 (except for the revisions made later, I am referring to 1.17.X)

Between each RC they can take the snapshots they want but in my opinion, it would not be nice if 1.18 is from the Cliffs & Caves Update.

    Not true. It doesn't make any sense at all if they made a huge update like the holiday version of Caves & Cliffs a 1.17.x version. Anyway, they already confirmed in the FAQ that Phase 2 coming in the holiday will be called 1.18, which makes sense and is consistent with every other update that has been split (just look at the Adventure Update or the Update Aquatic on Bedrock Edition).

    I personally think it's a mistake to split the two. Both updates should be delayed until it is complete as a whole. As of now the summer update is nothing more then a minor mod with so much of the big changes delayed. Just delay the entire update to holiday season. This is just going to turn modding into a huge mess.

    Ziad El-Moursy I had no idea that there were two updates that were divided before and were put into two different versions with a similar theme but in my opinion it would be better if they did not do this, I think it is better that they delay version 1.17 than the second phase of Cliffs & Caves Update is 1.18, it would be relatively irrelevant, I also agree with MimiKittyKat that it will be complicated for modders to have two versions of the same, so in my opinion it is better to leave a version like 1.17 for only the Cliffs & Caves Update and 1.18 for a different theme.

    In my opinion, nothing changes: patience, the next real update will be called 1.19.
