This would be a block that allowed the player to display an item. Unlike the Item Frame, the Display Block would allow the item to float and rotate (like they do when on the ground) without de-spawning, and without the player automatically picking it up if they get too close. This would be a more dynamic way for players to show off items they're particularly proud of.
The Display Block could be added in the form of either a pedestal that an item floats on top of, OR a transparent display case that an item floats inside of (I don't really have a preference to which style it ends up being). It would function just like the Item Frame, where a player can place and remove an item by interacting with the block.
I actually had this idea when Archeology was first announced. With more and more unique and storied items for the player to find out in the world, a new option to display their treasures just seemed like a natural new addition. With Archeology pushed back to another update, I figured I better suggest this now in the hopes that it might be introduced along side the new system.
