I disagree, defeats the point of farming them. Same as the nether wart block, being able to craft it back would defeat the purpose of finding warts in a fortress and not having infinite from a crimson forest. Sorry, no support from me

If they make it like glowstone I completely agree where, if you mine it you get a few back and it isn't affected by fortune.

No because then you have loads when you find 1 amethyst geode.

I support this but if this was the case amethyst geodes must be very hard to find and only the amethyst clusters can be fortuned for more this makes exploring caves more exciting and fun whilst rewarding players for locating them giving them a good decent amount of shards for tinted glass or amethyst blocks and you can continue farming the budding amethyst but you only get a limited amount of amethyst blocks from natural generation this makes storing it much easier whilst also giving reasons for players to explore more than just sit and watch your amethyst shard farm do all the work for you.

I think this is a wonderful idea, while amethyst blocks are pretty they're kind of pointless aside from being used as decoration. I cleared out some geodes to make an amethyst "farm" since amethyst buds or the blocks they grow on can't be moved. And while I enjoy having to trek into a cave every time I needed amethyst shards it would be nice if I could do something productive with my amethyst blocks besides decorate my enchantment room or have it take up space in a storage chest. Maybe make it so the Cleric villager will trade amethyst for emeralds or like one of the other users mentioned about the amethyst acting like glowstone and only getting a little bit back per block.

perhaps they make it so w/o silk touch, it drops 1-3 amythest but with silk touch you get the full block

well, since to have storage, matching other gems, it could be good to have aside normal amethyst block, if proplem think you would have too much too easily by getting one geode (you still get ton of those fast anyway), some storage version of 9 pieces to uncraft then, so it would let you store more amethysts and also not making to easy to mine geodes to get more, and also we could ahve some amethyst block that would not look as bad for using in some builds as decoration
similarly I would like to be able to uncraft quartz blocks or have some quartz storage blocks

it took a little bit of time for my friend to find a cave that had the amethyst blocks in them and when he did he farmed all the amethyst blocks and the geodes but only got so many shards. We went to try to turn the amethyst blocks into shards and couldn't find a way to do it. We ended up turning to google and google said we had to farm the blocks with a pickaxe but was wrong cause the blocks don't break into shards. We literally have to go around for hours just to find a couple of geodes everytime we run into some amethyst every what? couple thousand blocks or so? Should definitely give us the ability to turn the blocks into shards and even if they need to drop less crystal shards..
