Copper lacks a lot of uses:
- Copper is a new ore that currently has barely any uses. It is a metal that is used to make many things, but instead is only used for building, making the spyglass, and making a lightning rod, which does not make the material live up to it's name at all.
Why Copper fits in with the early-game progression:
- Copper was the first metal to ever be discovered. If we put the discoveries of materials made by man in order, you see there is Wood first, then Stone, Copper, Gold, then Iron. Doesn't this seem familiar? The advance in Copper tools was the main thing that led to the discoveries of Gold and Iron in the first place.
If Copper was introduced into the system, where would they be ranked?
- Copper would be ranked in between Gold and Iron.
Purpose of Copper tools / New Iron necessity:
- Copper would shake up early-game progression quite a bit to make it more logical and challenging. Stone would no longer mine Iron, as that would be Copper's new use, Stone would now be used to mine Copper. Copper can also mine Gold.
What would make Copper tools unique?
- Copper tools would eventually oxidize the more it's used, leading to less durability. This happens faster when in water, and when fully green, a Copper tool has similar durability as a Gold tool. Copper tools can be waxed to avoid this.
What would players go through?
- The players just go through an extra step towards progressing in the early-game. It is a win-win for Copper and the game
