Today Mojang added Raw Ores to the 1.17 snapshots. This was an elegant and long overdue solution to clutter while mining. Then I wondered about how this could help with managing your inventory.
Condensing more items!
This would help three-fold:
1. Condensed items can be stored in larger amounts in the inventory, taking up less space, and add more functionality/convenience to bundles and even shulkers.
2. Condensed items could be turned into their byproducts as they are, making crafting faster. For example 9 raw ore could be turned into a raw ore block which can be smelted into the normal metal block. Or sugarcane could be turned into a block and you can take a stack of them and quickly turn them into paper, or sugar. What items can be condensed is up for debate with regards to balance.
3. This would add a lot of new blocks to build with, some of which have been requested for years, like a charcoal block, sugar block, bamboo/sugarcane block, etc. Form AND function.
Just look at coal, bonemeal, or slime. There are certainly more items in the game that could benefit from this, and give players a small convenience and more blocks for their building palette
Either that or give us a double enderchest.
