In snapshot 21w14a they added smelteble ore drops

iron does not drop iron ore blocks anny more but iron scrap it changes the feeling of minecraft to much they should change the texture or remove this feature but i think removing is the best because it changes the feeling of minecraft way to much

  The entire reason they added this feature is for consistency. All other ores drop a material rather than the ore blocks themselves, and are therefore all affected by Fortune. Before this update, whenever you mined Iron Ore it just gave one Iron Ore block, regardless of whether you have Fortune or not. Having the ore drop multiple blocks when mined with Fortune just wouldn't feel right at all, so the solution they got to was adding these raw materials, which drop whenever you mine metal Ores and can increase with Fortune. You still have to smelt the raw materials, so they still kept that balance, and this also makes the metal Ores really consistent and really makes Fortune finally useful with them, which just improves the mining experience you get from metal ores. The textures also look very Minecraft-y in my opinion, it's just that some people hate anything that is new.
