I saw other posts with similar suggestions to this, but I'd like to express some more fleshed out ideas around this suggestion. Firstly, I think utilizing the excellent new Cavern generation and world depth from the cave update to create deep sea trenches and proper volcanic vents, not Just ravines, but deep reaching cuts in the sea floor, that open up to subterranean marine wonders, maybe the ocean monument could be updated to generate that far down in order to avoid guardians terrorizing players directly on the surface, opening an opportunity to update the old structure, but more importantly this kind of generation could allow Mojang to add much more in terms of sea exploration, create more bioflorescent deep sea flora and fauna, threatening deep sea creatures, dungeons, and creative ways for players to get breathable air when too deep underwater. Another opportunity this presents is that deep sea mining would likely be much more profitable than mining on the surface, since some ores have become harder to find with air exposure, not to mention the potential for new and fun blocks and materials. I understand another ocean-type update isn't the most likely thing to happen at least for a while but I hope this idea doesn't fall on dear ears! Thanks for reading!
