The Minecraft developers should add the abilities to toggle VSync and control and monitor FPS for the following reasons:
- Java Parity: The Minecraft team has made it clear that parity between the Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft is a long term goal that they are striving for, so adding the aforementioned options would contribute to this goal in a simple and meaningful way.
- Accessibility: VSync, along with other compounding factors (e.g. some sort of mouse smoothing or acceleration effect that seems to be in place, server lag, device limitations, step audio lagging behind the player ect.), creates disorienting effects such as input lag and can severely impact the user experience, especially when playing online.
- UX and Fairness: On top of harming UX and disfavoring sensitive/disabled players, the lack of any FPS options also prevents players on worse devices from having as much of a fighting chance when it comes to any online experience. For example, someone on a 144+Hz monitor now has a severe advantage when compared to anyone else. More FPS options would remedy this by allowing players on low Hz but otherwise decent devices to gain significantly more frames and would help them combat the high Hz gamer.
Final Notes: While it was certainly NOT the intentions of the MC: BE team to create systems that favor able bodied and rich players, it seems that they have in very subtle and UNINTENTIONAL ways.
