Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Combining blocks with ores

I would love it if we were able to combine certain blocks with smelted ores such as diamond, gold, emerald etc. It would really good for decoration. There could be a craftable item for it in which you could put a block and an ore and you would get a finsihed product which looked like an unsmelted ore but in a different block.
