The new minecraft mountains look absolutely breath-taking and they're a welcome addition to the game however they are NOT what people voted for as of right now because they were originally pitched as an upgrade or replacement for the current mountains not a new biome. I believe the main reason people voted for the mountains is because they wanted an upgrade to what currently feels like a messy and lackluster biome (especially on bedrock). The new rare mountains aren't that replacement, it is essentailly another biome.
This is a problem because the old mountains or extreme hills are really common, in most of my worlds there is one nearby, so something must be done to make them better like what was originally promised while keeping them different enough to make the new mountains exciting and to not cause slow down on moblie.
To fix this issue I suggest that on bedrock version they should go above y-128 to y- 192 instead. The peaks of the old mountains should also be wider and flatter to accomodate building. Trees should also be more common on the mid-level plateaus which should also be higher or vary in height with mini-cliffs or slopes between them. Birch trees should also generate up there to let players have a variety of wood.
I find it hard to believe that the new tall mountains are easier to climb than the older ones which are much more steep around the base, to solve this I suggest that the slopes should be more gentle in the old mountains.
