Gears for redstone engineers

So, gears used tro be the precursor to redstone, but were deleted. I thought that gears could be re-added, but I was curious how they would be, so here's my idea for the gears! People have wanted vertical redstone for years, so give them what they want in gears! You could only place gears on walls. They could be placed on the same block if its redstone, with the other gears only activating if that starter gear is on the same block as the redstone. They can also activate from all of redstone sources. You can craft 4 gears with 4 iron nuggets surrounding the middle of the crafting table. That's my idea, and have a mind boggling day!
