Currently, achievements are unrewarding and are pretty much useless (aside from bragging rights but will also be useless once the xbox achievement recorded it once). It would be nice if reaching an advancement gave merit to the player like getting experience (when getting wood/stone/iron during the early game) or an effect in relation to the achievement (getting temporary fire resistance when killing blazes; having temporary night vision when entering the end).
The same way raids reward players with discounts, other achievements should at least reward exp
