Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Craftable debug stick

This tool would be able to turn blocks around, you will not be in the water log like a normal debug stick, so that wouldn't let you get infinite water. but it would allow you to be able to like change the stair placement and also it would make building so much easier. I think this would not be early game but it would not be an end game. maybe you could craft it using a name tag a stick and an enchanted book.

    PLEASE!!! This would make building in a survival setting so much better without having to introduce new bocks or mechanics, and could add some really interesting mechanics to Minecraft maps. It increases the capability for creativity in builds, and lets players use blocks and ideas that would normally be inaccessible. There is little to no reason not to do this, and it would mesh great with things that are already in the game. It could be craftable with blaze rods and echo shards which would work wonderfully with the lore of ancient cities having been made by a lost race of builders. It could also be a rare loot drop from some loot table, for example the ancient cities again would be great, but it could also work to expand the loot tables for dungeons, end cities, archeology and suspicious sand/gravel, or any other place where they would fit. This would be so greatly appreciated by the building community, and would fit great in what has been a series of updates focused around interesting game mechanics and further customization. Please Mojang, make the debug stick or something like it attainable in survival.

    It could be used to alter block states for decorative factors of builds. There is no way to light a furnace in a purely decorative fashion (without wasting anything), and there is no way to separate fence posts & walls or open barrels without the GUI in non-creative mode builds. The only way to get it is through cheats, which (in survival mode) are, well, cheating. It would remove some of the biggest limitations of some of the (potentially) most useful blocks (fences, stairs, walls, and observers) in survival builds. I am open to a more limited version, and a chance that by enchanting a stick you will get something less useful instead.

    It would also be used in harmless jokes, (ie. flipping all your friend's torches around so they are not attached to the wall, or turning their furnace backwards) trap disarming/detecting, (by changing the block state of the pressure plate, which could be countered with an observer) and protecting your bed from villagers. (occupied=true)

    It would not be too overpowered because you would have to get an enchanting table first, and (more often than not) you can't significantly affect block functionality. (like making a furnace cook without fuel) it also does not have combat application because (from what I know) it does not affect mobs.
