Make leather armor more useful

Leather armor is about as useful as wood tools, for the first 4 minutes of a game. But what if we were to give leather armor a special ability to protect against sweet berry bushes and cactuses? It would be a small thing but would at least give us a reason to craft and keep leather items. Perhaps even giving them a special unique buff against thorns damage? Sure, it makes sense that other armor should protect against those things too, but not everything in the game needs to be logical, just useful. So I say make leather special for one specific purpose. A second idea would be to be able to take a dyed leather item and combine it with a stronger armor item to give your armor colored accents. Like white dyed leather boots plus netherite boots makes netherite boots with white trim.

    A good idea, but Mojang is already doing this, because if you wear leather armor you won't die in the new powdered snow block, and if you wear leather boots, you can't sink in it.

    I think it would be cool if leather armor (and chainmail, while we're at it) became more like "Utility" armor sets, as both can be skipped entirely for iron...
