What if it could be used to search for it in a entire chunk? Like "/locateblock minecraft:diamond_ore in - - -" and could say something like "There are 2 minecraft:diamond ore in chunk - - -, at block XYZ and XYZ"

    Really like the idea.

How about a more complicated version of the command.

For instance, "/locateblock ~ ~ ~ " would allow you to find the block right where you are. If you type in the full coordinates of a location ( i.e, "/locateblock 12 34 567") , it will tell you the name of the block in that area. "/locateblock" itself would act the same as "/locateblock ~ ~ ~".

You could also do something like this for the "/locateblock" CMD (CMD means command):

    "/locateblock entities @e[type=chicken] mode"

This would locate all blocks every chicken is standing on, then find the block that comes out the most. If it is a tie, it would show you BOTH blocks and both of their IDs. And this:

    "/locateblock entities @e[type=chicken] mean"

This would locate all blocks every chicken is standing on, then find the average ID number of the blocks stood on by chickens, then give you the ID number of that block. And this:

    "/locateblock entities @e[type=chicken] median"

This would locate all blocks every chicken is standing on, then find the block that has the moderate ID and give you the block and ID of that one.

"entities" in the /locateblock CMD would mean that you want to know the blocks that an entity is standing on.

"players" in the /locateblock CMD would do the same as for entities.

"blocks" in the /locateblock CMD would show you the coordinates, ID, and block of something. I'm beginning to run out of space for characters, now, I'll say more on the next comment. Really love your idea and hope it gets added!

So /locateblock could be broader, being just "/locate" instead. This would be useful because then you could use these after typing "/locate"

    "biomes"

This would locate biomes. I saw this in another post and it could be merged.

    "structures"

This would remove the previous command used for finding structures, so now if you wanted to find a structure, you'd have to use the /locate CMD.

    "find:entities", "block:entities"

Instead of just "entities", "find:entities" will locate all entities in your world and list how many there is in your world (and the coordinates of them all), and "block:entities" will do what "entities" did before.

    "near" , "far"

This ["near"] would show you how close the nearest specific block in a world to you is. The latter subcommand, "far", would show you how far a specific block in a world to you is. Both would also include block ID and coordinates.

( Note: When I say "block ID", I'm referring to the game code's ID for the block's item.)

    "find:players" , "block:players"

Similar to the "find:entities" and "block:entities" subcommand.

That is all from me, again I love love love your idea.

I think a way to locate specific blocks range to the player would be useful in datapacks
