Lanterns As Dynamic Lights

THE IDEA: The basic idea of using lanterns as dynamic lights is similar to how torches work in optifine, you hold a torch and the light follows you around Reasons Why Making Dynamic Torches Wouldnt Work In Vanilla: seems like a simple touch but it actually greatly changes the gameplay leaving placing down torches useless, leaving the player to only craft at least maybe a few The Solution To The Issue, Lanterns: Lanterns are expensive to make, I think using iron gives actual effort into making something that gives off dynamic light, and to still have torches useful you could light the lanterns with torches every once in a while, over time the lantern your holding could have a cool down time while in your hand

    I agree, but I also think they could make a new item for this, the Hooded Lantern. Crafted from 4 iron ingots, 1 chain, 2 rabbit hide (or leather?), and 1 candle (maybe replace one of the leather with a flint/steel). (or this functionality could be added to a gold,  copper, or amethyst lantern) It would work like you said, except it would increase the follow range of hostile mobs. It could be "hooded" by right clicking to decrease the light level significantly, removeing the follow range debuff.
