Waxing copper used to only be a way to prevent aging, but with the introduction of 21w11a's lightning, copper becomes de-oxidized when hit by a lightning bolt (unless the copper block is waxed). This means that builders can prevent lightning strikes from changing their coppers' state by waxing blocks for normal, exposed, and weathered copper, but fully oxidized copper doesn't yet have a waxed form, making it impossible for builders to protect any builds that use oxidized copper from lightning.
I propose that a waxed version of oxidized copper is added in order to protect our blue builds from lightning strikes.
