ok so hello,
i've been playing in survival in the latest snapshot because i really wanted to see the lava lakes by myself,
even thought i play casually minecraft, i would consider myself kinda experimented. Ok so now tge problem is that, with the recent nerfs of diamond generation with air exposure and less per vein, i found myself struggling to find some. In fact, i only found 3 in total in a session of 3-4 hours of caving, btw a really big cave at low level ( around -30). An other thing i noticed is that, as the caves are huge with a lot of mob spawn, i don't really understand why you would make poeple want to strip mine when it is a safer method. Also the big number of mobs makes it difficult to progress in the cave (which i personally like) but the reward is, disapointing, as it would be clever to reward the player with gear to be less struggling in the future. another thing is that even finding acient debris (wich should be the biggest chalenge in because it is used to craft the best armor) is easier and other methods works better, for exemple it is way better to just find a village and get yourself dimond gear with the armorer and such or even exploring the ocean and finding treaser maps. Well, all of that to say that it should be way more common to find diamonds in caves (and not hidden underground it makes not a lot of sens for a player to find more with less risk....), but i agree with the "less diamond per vein" just, make it easier to find. Thanks for reading!
