No. Diamonds are meant to be rare.

No, diamonds are only rare because of how deep they generate. They should be in between uncommon and rare for a change. This has my vote. Maybe this update should introduce diamond ore caves too! I have enough trouble finding diamonds on my world as it is. I. WANT. MORE!

I believe that the smaller veins are beneficial in the long run. Instead of spikes and valleys of excitement in terms of Diamond location, the distribution of Diamond Discovery is more even. However, I do agree that Bigger Veins should appear from time to time as an Uncommon Find. Diamond just probably needs some more utility.

Smaller but more frequent veins smoothen out progression and make exploration a lot more rewarding. I don't agree at all about the excitement of finding Diamonds being hurt by finding less per vein; they're still just as rewarding to find. Smaller veins also force you to interact more with the game, IMO. Previously, progression would spike sporradically, and it was way easier to call it quits when exploring a cavern because you had gotten what you needed. Building mining infrastructure and strips will be a lot more interesting in the update than prior, too, especially with underground builds and biomes!

The only reason we might feel a bit let down now is because we still have that learned experience of there being a bunch per vein. We expect more right now, but that expectation will be unlearned with time. In the long run, the 21w11a approach will be beneficial.

I could potentially see bigger veins appearing VERY rarely in the Deep Dark, or low underground below Y = -32, but there really shouldn't be more Diamond than there is now. It's only useful for progression and should be limited as such.

I agree with this post: rarer, larger veins are much more exciting than a constant supply of smaller veins. Most ores generate in constant supplies, so having an ore that actually surprises you would be pretty nice.

It doesn't make Any Sense, why you would Decrease the amount of diamonds per vain & chunk till it's lower than 1.16 amounts, if you want to encourage diamond mining & not alternative ways in a cave update? Unless you nerf other ways too, but we already have Netherite that needs diamonds anyways, & mining diamonds was so rare & boring before it's a main reason why people hated it in the 1st place. It needs to be engaging, exciting & rewarding. If not increasing the normal diamond veins, at least make it so the rare large ore variants they confirmed will add can contain up to 10-12 diamonds. Remember that the large ore variants would be very, very rare, especially diamonds, so you wouldn't ever normally find that many per vein. Some people saying diamonds were too common in previous snapshots were probably in spectator mode. Solely Survival won't be that easy.

Yes this needs to happen, just make something like 1 in every 4 or 5 be a vain of 6,7, or 8 diamond ore and then keep the smaller more common veins along side them, that way everyone is happy.

I think there should be large diamond veins, but diamonds should occur less often as a whole. It will make mining more fun and also keep it balanced.

You all are having a very interesting discussion, though 0 of you bothered to check Diamond generation on the Wiki. Let me blow your mind. As of 21w13a, Diamond Ore blobs attempt to generate in 2 batches. One batch attempts to generate 6 times per chunk with 0-5 Diamond Ores (50% reduced air exposure). Now here comes the fun bit. The second batch attempts to generate 1/9 times per chunk with 0-23 Diamond Ores!!! (70% reduced air exposure). The developers just are absolutely rocking it with ore generation. I hope this absolutely clears any complaints. Diamonds have been absolutely de-valued since the Middle Ages of Minecraft, so they might as well make mining the most amusing and fun way to do it, as well as very efficient (just imagine the jackpot you can find if you keep exploring!). They are still quite rare, but with how the game has evolved, they definitely shouldn't be as scarce underground, otherwise why mine for them?

I 100% agree with this. I've been playing in survival and have found that diamond veins are only slightly easier to find than in 1.17. However, the veins are now about 1-4 ore instead of 3-8 ore. I think the amount of ore found in a vein should increase the further down you go, which would incentivize exploring further down and taking more risks.

I completely agree. Finding one diamond was already do annoying before the update, and they made it worse. Its almost like they want us to use villager method to obtain them
