I know there's already an idea about this, but it has no explanation why it should be, but I have a few reasons.
Azalea trees are beautiful, with their flowering leaves, but it is a shame it uses oak logs instead of having its own unique wood type. Since Azalea trees would come more scarce or only in a few, the player could have to bring the population up by planting Azalea Saplings dropped from the trees so they may not only cherish the new wood type but its atmosphere as well.
I believe it would add an interesting dynamic since most woods you can find plentiful in forests, but with Azalea trees, you must replenish the environment yourself. Not only does it add a green and positive message to take care of the environment, but it could also be very pretty!
Besides, maybe it could bring forth something similar to birch wood, but more of light pink, which could work extremely well in Cottage-core or fantasy builds. Jungle wood is already slightly pink, but I'd say it is leaning more on a dark red than actually pink.
Azalea planks could be much brighter and pink, and if not, maybe it's own unique texture from the other woods to stand apart if needed of course to differentiate itself. Though a color swap would work perfectly in my opinion.
I think something similar to #FFE6FC would be a good pink color for the planks, and the log could be bordering more on a much more red appearance, similar to #BC5748. The Azalea logs could be the reddest log out there, even more so than Jungle Logs.
