Beehives can store 3 bees each. this is a good amount. but what if you want a massive bee farm? my idea for this is adding copper (fancy 1.17 stuff) to a bee nest (the artificial one) to get a copper bee nest, which can store 6 bees and the bottom and a bit of the sides would have copper on the texture. adding gold will add a graphic on the front to show how many bees are in the bee nest. adding an emerald will produce honey faster and add an emerald gem on the back of the nest texture. and lastly, adding a netherite ingot would remove the need of a campfire under the nest. the texture would replace the top half of the nest with netherite on the texture with netherite.
to combine the bee nests without too many variants here is an idea: if a nest has any upgrade it will be called an upgraded nest. then all the textures of the upgrades would blend together so none of the upgrades would look bad when combined. then use something like enchantments to tell apart the hives in your inventory.
