  they would come would come with a new banner pattern, which is just a grass block

  I actually really like this idea. It would make a player who climbed the mountain feel satisfied with his accomplishment. Also two ideas, 1. Maybe the loot table for he chest could have ice blocks in it because the only way to get ice blocks currently is from a wandering trader or a silk touch tool. 2. Maybe make an achievement for finding one.

  Also, possibly you could pick them up and design your own flags such as for example pride flags, country flags, or just little doodles :D

  I think flags could be treated like banners in most circumstances, like how their designs are made and whatnot.
