Although the Warden has not been added to the game, but here's some ideas.
Some of my friends often make jokes about Warden, includes two-block tunnels strategy and four-block towering strategy, because Warden cannot go into a two-block high tunnel and it cannot jump to a tower.
"The goal is to make it into some kinds of 'disaster', but not enemy" I remember some of the Mojang officer said this in "Ask Mojang" channel, so I know you won't let players to do so. You might give it ability to break blocks, but in my opinion, that will be too boring. Here's my idea.
the Warden is a mob that sense sounds, or in other word, vibrations. So why not make its attack related to vibrations? It can attack players using its own arms when players are around it, when player gets away, hiding inside tunnel, or stands on tower, it shakes the ground by smashing its arms down, this makes a shockwave, can damage nearby entity, or even break some fragile blocks (e.g. glass), and makes floating sand fall. The damage of shockwave depends on how far you are from the centre of the shockwave. The affect radius of shockwave could be 10 blocks, the centre will damage player for 7½ hearts, over the edge will take no damage to player, calculating method are provided below.
Technically, the shockwave could be a entity similar to dragon breath. It has its own NBT:{Spread:, Intensity:,}. The damage on the player at radius r is: Damage=(Spread-r)*Intensity. Default value is {Spread:10, Intensity:1½,}.
